Jordan Peterson, and Jesus as a True Myth
In a previous post, I wrote that Jordan Peterson seems to be ignorant about the facts surrounding the Historical Jesus. I took Peterson to task for speaking of Jesus in strictly mythological terms, implying that 1) there are no concrete facts about the historical Jesus, 2) Jesus was a myth, not a real person, 3) that mythology grew out of previous pagan mythologies. These assumptions have serious flaws, as I mentioned in my previous post.
However, is it true that Jesus has only historical and theological significance? Or is Peterson onto something? Does Jesus have some mythological significance as well? And if so, is it possible to hold together the mythological significance of Jesus with the historical facts about Him?
Join me for this podcast — first in a three podcast series — where I explore these topics.
