Take rest when you need it, not when you think you deserve it

We have a tendency to be overly critical of ourselves, and on days when our work did not bear much fruit, or we were spinning our wheels (usually due to no fault of our own) it can be tempting to conclude that we do not DESERVE to take a break. We need to work that little bit extra, write in the margins, over-work, under rest. But successful or not, our bodies and souls get tired. And when they’re tired, they need rest. Otherwise we will grow sick and tired. That’s why the Sabbath rolls around once a week, and night once a day. Whether we’ve earned it or not, take it. Rest. Stop. Take a break. To keep working (even on good things) is a sin, and be sure that your sins will find you out.
