Fear, Death and Halloween
Last sunday I preached the sermon, « Fear, Death & Halloween: finding avenues for the gospel through our annual celebration of darkness. » In this sermon, I challenge us Christians: « don’t get mad, get missional! » regarding Halloween. Like Paul the apostle, our hearts may be « stirred within us » while observing our culture. However, simply lashing out in anger is not the answer. Rather, we may find that Halloween shares some powerful insights into our culture which, like the « altar to the unknown God, » provides an avenue for the Gospel in our contemporary context.
