Fear, Death and Halloween
Last sunday I preached the sermon, “Fear, Death & Halloween: finding avenues for the gospel through our annual celebration of darkness.” In this sermon, I challenge us Christians: “don’t get mad, get missional!” regarding Halloween. Like Paul the apostle, our hearts may be “stirred within us” while observing our culture. However, simply lashing out in anger is not the answer. Rather, we may find that Halloween shares some powerful insights into our culture which, like the “altar to the unknown God,” provides an avenue for the Gospel in our contemporary context.
